Julie Weller is now serving in her eighth year as the director of the BHS Choral Department and second year at the Orchestra Director. At BHS, she also teaches Intro to the Guitar, and Public Speaking. She is a native of Central Massachusetts, but has spent the majority of her 25-year teaching career in the public schools of Southern Oregon.
A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Fitchburg State University, she holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education with a Choral Emphasis and a Master's degree in Arts Education. She is also a certified Education Through Movement instructor and has worked extensively with renowned movement educator, Phyllis Weikart. Mrs. Weller's choirs have consistently placed first in district-level competitions and have ranked among the top 15 in the state of Oregon in both performance and sight-reading. Her choirs have received gold and platinum medals at MICCA and Great East festivals. As a clinician, Mrs. Weller has conducted and hosted several honor choirs, and has presented extensively on the subject of Proficiency Learning and Grading around the state of Oregon. Mrs. Weller enjoys cooking, dancing, exercising, and spending time with her husband and 12-year-old son. |
